Things will be getting hairy in Saalfelden Leogang from October 2 to 4 and Beardrevered will be there to bring you all the top stories direct from the World Beard and Moustache Championships 2015.
Moustaches, goatees, beards, and muttonchops unite for the ultimate celebration of facial hair along with the 125th anniversary of the Leogang Band. For three days, participants from 20 countries will compete in eighteen categories with more than 350 Beardsmen from all corners of the world — United States, Russia, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Spain and UK — who have registered for this event. A jury will choose the most attractive, original, and inventive beards and I am honoured to be part of this year’s judging panel.

A concert by the Krainerwind band will kick off events on Friday and the actual World Beard Championships will take place on Saturday 3rd. On Sunday, the Leogang Band will celebrate its 125th anniversary with a parade of championship participants and local clubs.
Leogang has a hairy past. It was previously the venue for the Beard Olympics in 2005 as well as the European Beard and Moustache Championships in 2010. “I am expecting strong competitors with unusual beards in Saalfelden Leogang this year,” says Wilhelm Preuss, the president of the East Bavarian Beard Club. “We will see where beards grow the fastest.”
It’s not too late to admire the fuzz (although competition entry is now closed) – see below for details
