Me: What do you think about the current topic of Beards in the workplace?

John: It’s definitely an issue

Me: I just don’t understand it…

John: I know a man who hid his beard to avoid discrimination problems at work

Me: Wow – crazy. How did he do that?

John: He managed to tuck his beard in his collar and down his shirt. Nobody even knew he had a massive beard hidden away!

What started as an average Sunday afternoon turned into hirsute heaven when I was invited along to the monthly meeting of the British Beard Club. Led by Honorary Pres. David, this group of beautifully bearded men hosted a charming afternoon in the Queens Head Pub in Kings X.

Full of insiders stories from the world of competitive bearding to the everyday problems encountered when blessed with a mighty mane of hair on one’s chin, I was enchanted by how approachable and charming these men were. It was definitely a lesson in how to sport a beard with dignity and pride. Take note all you Hipsters – you’ve got a long way to go until you catch up with these fine gentlemen.

Thank you to all that agreed to have their photo taken for We love your Beard. Unfortunately the light started to fade so apologies to David and Del for the less than perfect images (promise we’ll do better next time) – visit #beardrevered on both Instgram and Tumblr.
