ENO’s recent production of Rigoletto contained some pretty hefty facial hair. Verdi’s tragic tale of passion, revenge and sacrifice follows the story of the lowly jester Rigoletto, the daughter he loves and the Duke he serves all from acclaimed director, Christopher Alden.
Unfortunately we missed it all.
We have some very nice friends in high opera places however who thought to share their hirsute experiences with us. Both George Humphreys (left) who incidentally shares the same name as my father and Barnaby Rea (right) sported rather fantastic full beards for their roles as Marullo and Ceprano.
Keep up to date with their beards (and singing) on twitter @wgshumphreys and @BarnabyRea
