Our friend, Philip Brown – beard enthusiast and renowned cricket photographer – has been sending us over a steady supply of hairy pics from the Ashes series, currently playing out in Australia.
We are particularly impressed with Moeen ‘The Beard that’s Feared’ Ali (left), the Worcestershire batsman who has an impressive 1344 runs this season at an average of 64.00. It sounds like I know what I’m talking about but I don’t. I copied it from a cricket site which may or may not be up-to-date. Sorry. Don’t shout at me cricket beard people, you know ALL I care about is the hair.

Anyway, in my humble opinion he definitely overtakes Monty Panesar (centre), who back in 2006 was declared Beard of the Year, out pipping Fidel Castro to the post – no mean feat I say. They are joined here by former Test Cricketer, Mushtaq Ahmed (right) with his rather good take on a ‘bi-colore’ beard. Mr Ahmed is the England Cricket Team’s bowling coach (but I could be wrong about that too).
If you don’t like any of those, there is always supporter Joel (below), who I’m assuming is Australian, and who’s beard might be little more than stubble but he seems rather happy which is a good thing, isn’t it? No simmering tension there!
Game (and beard) on & good luck in the next test GB boys.
